Principal Engineer

Principal Engineer (Architecture/Fintech): Driving the scalability, performance, resilience, and security of hirify.global's platform and customer-facing interfaces with an accent on architectural decision-making and technical guidance for highly complex initiatives. Focus on conceiving strategic plans, conducting research into new technologies, and leading senior engineers to deliver high-impact business goals.

Location: Hybrid working model in Barcelona, Spain or Vienna, Austria, with an additional 25 days per year to work from a city or country of your choice.

What you will do

• Grow and inspire the Product and Engineering organization, providing technical guidance for highly complex initiatives.
• Conceive plans and conduct research in relevant problem areas or new technology of considerable scope.
• Gather requirements and pave the way for consensus on architectural decision records across multiple departments.
• Lead smaller teams of senior engineers to deliver high-impact initiatives crucial for business goals.
• Analyse potential business opportunities for benefits and risks, creating detailed architectural diagrams and technical documents.

Requirements

• Ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams, navigating technical ambiguity.
• Experience in large-scale development of customer-facing interfaces using Design Systems.
• Deep expertise across a broad tech stack, including UX/UI best practices, scalable design systems, Monorepos, GraphQL (Java DGS), CI/CD tooling (GitLab Runners, Bash), event-driven architectures (Kafka), modern data stores (Postgres, Redis), and Kubernetes.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one of Kotlin, Swift, TypeScript, or Java.
• Highly collaborative, focused on building relationships across all departments, and self-driven.
• Several years of experience with a track record in successful delivery of frontend initiatives (iOS, Android or Web).
