What you will do

• Develop and maintain high-quality external API documentation including user guides, FAQs, and tutorials
• Test APIs using tools like Postman and Insomnia to ensure documentation accuracy
• Collaborate with product, development, and customer success teams to gather technical information and reflect product updates
• Participate in product launches involving API changes
• Create visuals and examples to simplify complex technical concepts
• Conduct user research and gather feedback to improve documentation usability

Requirements

• Location: Based in South Africa with hybrid work setup
• Minimum four years of experience as a Technical Writer or similar role
• Bachelor’s degree in language or technical field or equivalent experience
• Experience with docs-as-code workflows, Markdown, GitHub, and static-site generators
• Proficiency in API documentation using OpenAPI/Swagger and API testing tools
• Excellent written and spoken English with ability to explain complex concepts clearly

Nice to have

• Basic programming knowledge in Python, JavaScript, or similar
• Scripting skills for API testing automation
• Experience maintaining content on developer portals
