TL;DR

Location: Remote from Poland (hybrid work culture)

What you will do

  • Develop and refine tools and techniques for optimizing game assets, shaders, and environments within Unreal Engine or proprietary engines.
  • Optimize existing content to enhance performance across multiple platforms while maintaining visual quality.
  • Collaborate closely with art and engineering teams to ensure game visual quality meets performance targets.
  • Write documentation for optimization workflows, tools, and best practices to support team efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the game development or other CG industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Technical Artist.
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine 4 or 5, with a deep understanding of its art and rendering pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of performance optimization techniques and best practices in game development.
  • Experience and proficiency with Houdini.

Nice to have

  • Expertise in developing custom tools and scripts to enhance and streamline art workflows.
  • Expertise in creating and optimizing shaders, materials, and visual effects for game environments.
  • Experience in dealing with material creation & optimization (Master Materials, Material Functions, Material Layers).
  • Environment asset pipeline knowledge (Displacement, Decimation Workflow, Modular Workflow, Texel Density, Collisions, Sculpting, UV's).
  • Experience with world building systems (Landscape, RVT, Foliage, Procedural Foliage).
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling, texturing, and animation software, such as Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Blender and Substance Package.
  • Scripting languages as Python, Vex, MEL and Maxscript.
  • Experience with VFX software like Embergen or Niagara plugin in UE.
