Senior Software Engineer (AI): Building and optimizing robust, distributed services and performance-optimized systems for smart shopping experiences with an accent on personalization, savings, transparency, and convenience. Focus on harnessing the power of AI, LLMs, and LLM-based Agents to create best-in-class shopping experiences across Bing, MSN, and Edge.

Location: Hybrid in Cairo, Egypt. Employees must live within a 25-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office and are expected to work from the office at least four days per week starting January 26, 2026.

What you will do

• Contribute to the development of robust, distributed services and performance-optimized systems that support Shopping services.
• Collaborate across disciplines to design and implement features that enhance platform scalability, data modeling, and workflow automation.
• Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements and drive the development of design documents.
• Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance and maintainability.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by monitoring system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
• Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• 4+ years of experience in distributed systems development.
• 4+ years of experience working with microservices.
• English: B2 required.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience.
