What you will do

• Evaluate, refactor, and evolve WordPress/PHP and frontend JavaScript architecture for scalability and performance.
• Establish and document front-end/back-end coding standards (PHP, JS, HTML, CSS) and drive adoption.
• Partner with WebOps to enhance site performance and ensure accessibility.
• Plan and implement new site features, embedding best practices.
• Maintain timely PR reviews, strengthen automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Provide technical leadership, unblock issues, and ensure consistent output quality.
• Systematically reduce technical debt by refactoring and consolidating scripts.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust tracking infrastructure for analytics and A/B testing.

Requirements

• Proven, long-standing experience in professional web development with WordPress/PHP at scale.
• Demonstrated lead-level influence (mentoring, establishing standards).
• Deep proficiency in PHP, modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3/SCSS.
• Strong grasp of code architecture principles (Model-View-Controller) and API integrations (REST/JSON).
• Proven record of improving page performance and Core Web Vitals on marketing or content-heavy sites.
• Comfortable with unit (PHPUnit), integration, and end-to-end (Playwright or similar) test strategies.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving cross-browser/front-end compatibility issues and responsive layout bugs.
• Ability to coordinate and technically lead contractors.
