Senior Data Scientist (Data Science)

TL;DR

Senior Data Scientist (AI): Defining success metrics, designing rigorous experiments, and building scalable analytics frameworks for Microsoft Copilot with an accent on causal inference, statistical analysis, and deep-dive diagnostics. Focus on improving user experience, product quality, and business outcomes through data-informed decisions and scalable solutions.

Location: Suzhou, China. Expected to work from the office at least four days per week if living within a 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location.

What you will do

• Define and evolve product health metrics for Copilot experiences.
• Design and execute A/B tests and quasi-experimental analyses.
• Build robust causal inference and statistical analysis frameworks.
• Develop scalable data pipelines, monitoring dashboards, and self-service analytics.
• Diagnose product and model performance issues through deep-dive analyses.
• Communicate insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years data-science experience OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience applying data science/analytics to solve complex product or business problems.
• Solid hands-on skills in Python and SQL; experience with large-scale data processing and analytical workflows.
• Solid foundation in statistical modeling, experimentation design, hypothesis testing, and causal inference.
• Experience building metrics systems, dashboards, and decision frameworks for product development.
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in AI product analytics, conversational AI, LLM evaluation, ranking/retrieval systems, or recommendation/search systems.
• Familiarity with Copilot-like interaction data and quality frameworks.
• Experience with cloud and big data platforms (Azure preferred).
• Track record of influencing product strategy through rigorous experimentation and measurable business impact.
