TL;DR

Applied Scientist (AI): Building and optimizing next-generation search engines and grounding systems with an accent on semantic search, LLMs, and multi-modal NLP. Focus on driving innovation from idea to production, improving search and Copilot quality, and optimizing model training and inference.

Location: Expected to work from the office at least four days per week in Beijing, China.

What you will do

• Apply state-of-the-art research and industry innovations to enhance Search/Grounding quality with measurable business impact.
• Independently lead exploration from idea/design through experiments to product deployment.
• Collaborate effectively with product, algorithm, and engineering partners globally to advance projects.
• Optimize and implement productivity and agility in model training/inference code, data pipelines, tools, and shipping processes.
• Mentor and guide junior team members on technical aspects, attitude, and work methodology.
• Drive data quality improvements and maintain/update online systems for feature changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field AND 2+ years of relevant experience, OR Master’s Degree + 1 year, OR Doctorate.
• Prior experience in Research, Applied Science, Search/Recommendation, or solid deep model training.
• Experience with common machine learning, deep learning frameworks, LLMs, and prompting.
• Proficiency in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Expected to work from the office at least four days per week in Beijing, China.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s Degree + 5+ years, OR Master’s Degree + 3+ years, OR Doctorate + 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Solid experience and understanding of Deep models and retrieval.
• Solid research experience and publications.
• Familiarity with model optimization on training/inference and GPU.
