Backend API Engineer

TL;DR

Backend API Engineer: Building and optimizing APIs and platform services that agents and the UI consume with an accent on performant, reliable, secure endpoints and real-time interfaces. Focus on enabling token streaming, traces, event-driven workflows, and implementing signed Bedrock calls.

Location: Remote (United States)

Salary: $170,000 – $200,000 a year

What you will do

• Build APIs using FastAPI / Node.js in AWS Lambda or ECS/EKS.
• Implement WebSocket support for streaming agent output.
• Manage routing, rate limits, token streaming, and session management.
• Implement signed Bedrock calls through VPC endpoints.
• Partner with Front-End and Agent Engineers on schema contracts.
• Integrate EventBridge, SQS/SNS, and SecretsManager.

Requirements

• Production microservice experience.
• Bedrock API + token streaming experience.
• Secure API design competency.
• Strong performance optimization skills.
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering.

Nice to have

• AWS Developer certifications.
