Staff Software Engineer

Salary: $229,000-$343,000 annually depending on location and experience

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize large-scale caching systems like Redis/KeyDB/Valkey and custom proxy layers.
• Develop high-performance caching proxies and client libraries for request routing and load balancing.
• Implement failover, replication, and cluster topology management for low-latency workloads.
• Enhance observability with metrics, tracing, and debugging tools for cache infrastructure.
• Drive benchmarking, tuning, and capacity planning for very high query per second scale.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and application teams to integrate caching into critical paths.

Requirements

• Must have 9+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Experience with large scale distributed systems and cloud computing.
• Hands-on knowledge of large-scale caching systems like Redis, KeyDB, or Valkey.
• Proficiency in Java, Go, C++, and/or Python.
• Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives.
• Must be able to work onsite in Bellevue, Seattle, or Santa Monica.

Nice to have

• Experience with Service Oriented Architectures and Service Mesh.
• Experience promoting operational excellence, incident management, and post mortems.
• Experience building and maintaining mission-critical, highly-available global distributed systems.
