TL;DR

Sustaining Operations Engineer: Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in Linux-based software-defined infrastructure and open source applications with an accent on deep debugging across the stack including virtualization, containerization, storage, networking, OpenStack, and Kubernetes. Focus on diagnosing critical operational problems, collaborating with engineering teams, and contributing fixes upstream.

What you will do

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, OpenStack, Ceph, and Kubernetes
  • Maintain close collaboration with field, support, and product engineering teams
  • Participate in upstream open source communities and contribute patches
  • Debug issues and provide workarounds and fixes
  • Manage priorities and participate in process and documentation improvements
  • Provide subject matter expertise as final escalation point and participate in weekend rotations

Requirements

  • Must have professional experience troubleshooting advanced Linux issues
  • Strong experience with Linux, LXD, OpenStack, Ceph, or Kubernetes
  • Strong debugging skills with Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
  • Familiarity with debugging tools like gdb, pdb, tcpdump and git
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 10% of work time
  • Background in Computer Science, STEM or similar

Nice to have

  • Experience with Ubuntu Linux kernel or userspace, QEMU/KVM, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Debian packaging, distributed systems
  • Curiosity, flexibility, strong communication and accountability
