Software Support Engineer (Linux/Open Source): Troubleshooting and resolving complex customer issues related to Ubuntu and open source software with an accent on upstream bug fixes and collaboration with engineering teams. Focus on maintaining effective communication and participating in upstream communities.

What you will do

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support and product engineering teams.
  • Participate in upstream communities and develop bug fixes.
  • Review code produced by other engineers and prioritize work effectively.
  • Maintain clear, technical and concise communications.
  • Travel internationally up to 10% of work time for team meetings and events.

Requirements

  • Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science or similar.
  • Experience with Linux and open source software.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, C or C++ on Linux.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
