What you will do
- Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source software
- Maintain close collaboration with field, support, and product engineering teams
- Participate in upstream open source communities and contribute bug fixes and patches
- Review code from other engineers and improve team processes and documentation
- Manage priorities and communicate clearly and technically
- Work remotely with occasional international travel up to 10% for team meetings and events
Requirements
- Remote role with teams in all time zones
- Exceptional academic track record in Computer Science, STEM or similar
- Experience with Linux and open source software
- Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times a year
Nice to have
- Interest or willingness to learn Ubuntu Linux kernel or userspace, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Debian packaging, distributed systems
- Strong communication and soft skills including curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
