Staff Machine Learning Scientist (AI)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Identify customer problems where machine learning can create meaningful value and define the appropriate ML framing.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and research to deeply understand problem areas.
• Research and select practical algorithms and tools, including advanced approaches when appropriate.
• Run offline evaluations, gather evidence, and measure the customer impact of deployed models.
• Work with engineers to move prototypes into production and plan, measure, and share learnings.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to hiring and career development, and raise technical standards for performance, reliability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of applied machine learning experience.
• Previous experience in a senior or staff-level data science, software development, or academic role.
• Demonstrated impact on products or engineering teams.
• Strong programming, communication, and scientific thinking skills, with comfort working through ambiguity.
• Experience serving as the primary technical leader for a team.
• Advanced education in machine learning or a related field, typically an MSc.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping machine learning products.
• PhD or research-environment experience.
• Expertise in NLP, deep learning, Bayesian methods, reinforcement learning, or clustering.
• Strong statistics or mathematics background, plus visualization, data, SQL, or matplotlib skills.
