Product Designer (AI Models)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; or remotely within the United States. In-person onboarding is required if hired.

Annual base salary: $169,000–$303,000 USD.

What you will do

• Collaborate with AI researchers to improve model performance from a design perspective.
• Develop and document design principles and heuristics for AI systems.
• Build methods to test and improve the quality of AI-generated design outputs.
• Oversee design evaluation quality and guide external partners.
• Translate technical concepts between AI researchers and designers.

Requirements

• Experience developing design heuristics and design principles.
• Experience leading design efforts across a suite of products or multiple product lines.
• Experience using AI models for design tasks, including coding or image models.
• Proven ability to manage complex cross-functional projects across organizational boundaries.
• Experience managing contractors and multiple projects under tight timelines.
• Strong design background with excellent taste and attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Experience creating or evaluating AI-generated designs.
• Operational mindset and ability to improve processes.
• Technical understanding of AI and machine learning concepts applied to design.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and define clear goals for open-ended challenges.
