Principal Data Engineer

TL;DR

Principal Data Engineer: Designing, developing, and maintaining core data systems including data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes with an accent on ensuring data accessibility, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Focus on leading technical delivery, mentoring team members, and optimizing data infrastructure performance.

Location: Must be based in our Bangalore office for 5 days per week

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain data systems including pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes.
• Lead and support the development of new data-dependent applications and business intelligence dashboards.
• Collaborate with software engineering and product teams to build scalable, reliable data infrastructure.
• Manage and optimise data warehouse performance, cost, and user security.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, promoting best practices and high technical standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering with a strong track record in production-grade systems.
• Expertise in SQL and Python, with experience automating data pipelines using tools such as dbt and Airflow.
• Strong knowledge of data lakehouse architecture (e.g. Databricks, Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Experience with cloud services (e.g. AWS) and their configuration.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
