AI Phone - Senior Android System Engineer (AI): Building Android system services, privileged APIs, and OS-level interfaces that enable AI agents to interact reliably with phone functionality with an accent on Android Framework, system services, permissions, IPC, and lifecycle management. Focus on integrating AI services into Android components, optimizing system performance and resource consumption, and designing reliable execution interfaces.

Location: Taipei, Taiwan; hybrid

What you will do

  • Implement and modify Android system services.
  • Develop privileged system APIs and interfaces for AI capabilities.
  • Enable AI agents to interact with Android system functionality.
  • Work with permissions, Binder IPC, application lifecycle, and background execution.
  • Integrate AI services with Android system components and optimize performance and resource consumption.
  • Collaborate with agent engineers to build reliable execution interfaces.

Requirements

  • Strong Android engineering experience.
  • Experience with Android Framework or AOSP development.
  • Strong Java and Kotlin knowledge.
  • Understanding of Binder IPC, Android processes, and system services.
  • Experience with Android permissions and application lifecycle.
  • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.

Nice to have

  • Custom ROM or AOSP contributions.
  • C++ experience.
  • Experience with Android System UI.
  • Experience with background services and power management.
