Microsoft Fabric Senior Data Engineer

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and support enterprise data solutions on Microsoft Fabric from source integration to business-ready datasets.
• Integrate databases, APIs, files, and enterprise applications using Fabric Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and notebooks.
• Implement transformations, loading patterns, dimensional models, validation, reconciliation, orchestration, and operational monitoring.
• Apply security, governance, Git integration, deployment pipelines, and controlled promotion across development, test, and production.
• Optimize Spark and SQL workloads, Delta tables, and Fabric capacity usage while troubleshooting production issues.
• Deliver curated datasets for Power BI, including support for semantic models, Direct Lake, and refresh dependencies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including at least 1–2 years of hands-on Microsoft Fabric implementation.
• At least one end-to-end Microsoft Fabric solution delivered to production, including deployment and post-go-live support.
• Active Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700) certification with a verifiable credential link.
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Delta tables, Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture, and the ability to explain design tradeoffs.
• Strong SQL/T-SQL and Python/PySpark skills for transformations, troubleshooting, and reusable processing logic.
• Experience with full and incremental loads, change-data capture where supported, upserts, deduplication, schema changes, and late-arriving data.
• Experience with dimensional modeling, fact and dimension tables, slowly changing dimensions, validation rules, source-to-target reconciliation, and data grain.
• Experience with parameterized pipelines, dependencies, scheduling, logging, alerts, retries, and safe reruns without duplicating data.
• Knowledge of workspace and item permissions, data-level access controls, secure connections, sensitivity labels, lineage, Git integration, deployment pipelines, Spark/SQL tuning, Delta optimization, and Fabric Capacity Metrics.
• Experience across at least two business domains, preferably three, such as Procurement, HR, Finance, Sales, or Inventory, supported by delivered projects.
• Ability to explain domain processes, KPIs, source data, reporting requirements, implementation contribution, and reconciliation needs.
• Ability to translate business requirements into data mappings, transformation rules, and acceptance criteria; communicate with stakeholders and own estimates, testing, UAT, documentation, and handover.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
• Experience integrating Dynamics 365/Dataverse, SAP ECC, S4HANA, or other ERP/CRM platforms.
• Experience with KQL, Eventstreams, Eventhouse, and real-time processing.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, ADLS Gen2, and Microsoft Purview.
• Client-facing consulting experience.
