BioProcess Engineer (mRNA)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid. Applications are limited to US and Puerto Rico residents.

Salary: $100,500–$145,166.66 annually.

What you will do

• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies for mRNA process development and manufacturing, including proof-of-concept studies and technology roadmaps.
• Lead process intensification to improve efficiency, yield, and quality while reducing process steps and waste.
• Develop scale-up models and strategies for transitioning processes from laboratory to clinical and commercial manufacturing.
• Develop next-generation mRNA platforms, establish performance metrics, and coordinate cross-functional integration.
• Collaborate with technology providers, academic partners, Manufacturing, and Quality teams while maintaining GMP compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments, quantify effects on performance metrics and cost of goods, and lead technology transfers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Relevant industrial experience in bioprocess engineering or related fields: 5+ years with a BS, 4+ years with an MS, or 2+ years with a PhD.
• Demonstrated success implementing new technologies in bioprocess environments with measurable outcomes.
• Experience scaling processes from laboratory to clinical or commercial manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of bioprocess engineering principles, unit operations, and process development in GMP environments.
• Excellent project management, cross-functional leadership, influence, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Excellent spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for process changes and technology implementation.
• Background in modeling, data analysis, or automation.
• French language skills.
