Finance Manager (Fintech)

Location: St. Julian's, Malta; candidates must have the right to work in Malta and be based in Malta.

What you will do

• Own finance policies and procedures covering safeguarding, reconciliation, treasury, and capital management.
• Oversee daily reconciliations, exception reviews, safeguarding of customer funds, regulatory capital, liquidity, and related escalations to the Board and MFSA.
• Manage payment settlement, disrupted payments, refunds, chargebacks, pre-funding, treasury requirements, and financial relationships with banks, acquirers, PSPs, and other partners.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, IFRS statutory statements, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, regulatory returns, and Board reports.
• Manage annual, safeguarding, regulatory, and external audits, including follow-up of recommendations and timely Malta Business Registry filings.
• Oversee Maltese and international tax obligations, outsourced providers, Group reporting, and finance input into new payment products, operational resilience, and ICT/outsourcing oversight.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business, or a related field.
• Recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACCA, ICAEW, CPA Malta, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of finance experience in payments, fintech, e-money, or banking, including regulatory reporting.
• Working knowledge of IFRS, safeguarding and reconciliation requirements, and regulatory capital for payment or e-money institutions.
• Ability to meet the MFSA’s fit and proper requirements and obtain approval for the function; the offer is conditional on approval, satisfactory references, and background checks.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with regulators, auditors, Board members, and partners.
• High integrity and sound judgement.
• Right to work in Malta and current residence in Malta.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Existing MFSA approval for a similar role, including a cleared Personal Questionnaire.
• Experience automating reconciliation or finance processes and using ERP and reporting tools.
• Experience managing outsourced providers and working in a Group structure.
• Additional professional qualifications related to payments or financial regulation.
