Senior Laboratory Automation Engineer (Clinical Genomics)

Salary: $125,900–$157,400 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, and build scalable systems integrating software, laboratory automation, and biology for clinical genomics assay platforms.
• Collaborate with scientists during assay prototyping to optimize chemistry and laboratory hardware.
• Integrate LIMS with automation software and coordinate with internal software development teams.
• Work with external vendors on custom hardware and external software integrations.
• Establish the architecture for fully automated laboratory systems.
• Write documentation and SOPs, and train engineers in system development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• BA/BS or MS in engineering or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of full-time experience in automation and systems development for the life science industry.
• Demonstrated experience shipping complex automation projects into production.
• Ability to integrate instruments such as liquid handlers, plate readers, and plate-handling robotics.
• Software development experience or familiarity with software development practices.
• Experience programming and operating liquid handlers, including Hamilton, Beckman, or Tecan systems.
• Strong communication, organization, record-keeping, planning, attention to detail, time management, and project management skills.
• Ability to work with internal teams and manage relationships with external contractors.

Nice to have

• Experience with development and/or verification and validation for a molecular screening or diagnostic product.
• Experience working with LIMS systems.
