Senior Writer (AAA Game Narrative)

Location: Remote; listed locations include Montréal, Quebec, Canada, and Novato, California, United States. For candidates located in Quebec, professional proficiency in both French and English is required.

What you will do

• Drive narrative content from concept through completion while maintaining consistent tone and thematic depth.
• Write critical-path storylines, side content, systemic dialogue, character bios, sample writing, and casting sides.
• Implement narrative content and scripts in Unreal Engine and proprietary narrative tools.
• Participate in play sessions, provide narrative and design feedback, and refine writing pipelines and workflows.
• Collaborate with design, art, engineering, animation, and audio teams to deliver the game's narrative vision.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional writing experience in games, television, film, or theatre.
• 2–3 published works of fiction, with video game credits strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with narrative game tools and Unreal Engine, or the willingness and ability to learn them quickly.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, identify unresolved narrative challenges, and own solutions through completion.
• Portfolio demonstrating high-caliber storytelling and the ability to respond constructively to critique and feedback.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas and deliver difficult feedback empathetically.
• Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams, with ownership, initiative, adaptability, organization, and attention to detail.
• For candidates located in Quebec: professional proficiency in French and English is required.
