TL;DR
Program Manager (AI): Building and operating a partner network that helps small businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations adopt OpenAI technology with an accent on partner onboarding, payments, events, service quality, and scalable operating systems. Focus on designing partner workflows, coordinating Legal, Finance, Procurement, Marketing, analytics, and product teams, and using service data and community feedback to improve program impact.

Location: Hybrid in New York City or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $207K–$230K base pay, plus equity, performance-related bonuses for eligible employees, and benefits.

Company

OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company developing and safely deploying general-purpose AI systems intended to benefit humanity.

What you will do

  • Build and operate the partner model from sourcing and selection through onboarding, support, renewal, and exit.
  • Coordinate partner agreements, vendor setup, payments, reporting, budgets, risks, and dependencies with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and support local workshops, deployments, events, marketing, communications, and follow-up while preserving local ownership.
  • Build partner systems including intake, knowledge bases, service logs, check-ins, playbooks, and scalable support processes.
  • Coach local operators, resolve onboarding and service-quality issues, manage expectations, and maintain trusted relationships with partner organizations.
  • Assess program impact using service delivery data, beneficiary feedback, and product-use signals, then bring findings into program and product improvements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years owning a complex partner, community, or operational program from early design through execution at scale, with clear examples of personally building and improving programs.
  • Strong operational judgment and follow-through across onboarding, financial workflows, events, and multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to earn trust with small-business owners, local technical operators, and community leaders; explain expectations clearly and handle difficult conversations.
  • Practical familiarity with ChatGPT, Codex, and AI-enabled workflows, with the ability to work credibly with technical specialists and explain tools to less technical users.
  • Ability to use quantitative data and qualitative feedback to distinguish meaningful outcomes from activity counts and improve processes without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Clear writing, early risk communication, independent work through ambiguity, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience creating playbooks, support systems, or automation that enables high-touch programs to scale.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating local-services, small-business, nonprofit, fellowship, ambassador, or distributed partner programs.
  • Experience coordinating vendor onboarding, invoices, budgets, or grant-like payment workflows with Finance and Legal.
  • Experience running hands-on workshops or community events and translating successful local practices into reusable resources.
  • Experience working across marketing, product, analytics, public-policy, or regional teams.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hybrid work in New York City or San Francisco, with daily meals in offices and eligible meal-delivery credits.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, employer HSA contributions, FSA options, commuter benefits, and a 401(k) with employer match.
  • Paid parental, medical, caregiver, sick, and safe leave; flexible PTO for exempt employees and up to 15 annual days for non-exempt employees.
  • 13+ paid company holidays, coordinated paid office closures, mental health and wellness support, and employer-paid life and disability coverage.
  • Annual learning and development stipend, relocation support for eligible employees, charitable donation matching, and wellness stipends.
  • Employment is at-will; compensation may be modified based on individual performance, team or company results, or market conditions.
