Quality Control Engineer (Manual QA)

Location: Remote from Bulgaria, Poland, or Romania

What you will do

• Define test plans, scope, priorities, scenarios, and test cases while validating user stories, acceptance criteria, business logic, dependencies, and edge cases.
• Prepare complex test data and perform exploratory, functional, regression, integration, UAT, and end-to-end testing of grant and expert management workflows.
• Monitor TEST, INT, and PREPROD environments, deployments, availability, and downtime.
• Validate APIs and backend behaviour using SoapUI, SQL, Oracle SQL Developer, XML, structured data, and Kibana.
• Record test evidence and manage tests and defects in Jira and Zephyr with full traceability.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and support teams to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and report execution progress, dependencies, and quality risks.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent in any field, plus 5+ years of professional IT experience and strong manual software testing expertise.
• Strong test planning and design skills, including acceptance criteria validation, exploratory testing, equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and static and dynamic testing.
• Experience with Jira and Zephyr for test and defect management, and SoapUI for API testing.
• Strong SQL skills, including Oracle SQL Developer and complex queries for test data preparation and backend validation.
• Experience with Kibana for log analysis and XML or structured data using XML Notepad, Notepad++, or similar tools.
• Basic Selenium experience for test execution support and the ability to troubleshoot application, API, database, and log layers.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum, good knowledge of grant and audit business processes, and familiarity with ChatGPT or Generative AI for test case optimization.
• Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• English or French proficiency at B2 level or higher.
