Software Application Engineer – Power Conversion

What you will do

• Develop software applications, scripts, utilities, APIs, libraries, and documentation for product development, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation.
• Create and maintain automated test frameworks for laboratory, HIL, SIL, and hardware-based testing.
• Build graphical and web interfaces for device configuration, monitoring, visualization, diagnostics, and engineering workflows.
• Implement communication interfaces with embedded systems and test equipment using UART, Ethernet, Modbus, CAN, and TCP/IP APIs.
• Develop test sequencing, data acquisition, analysis, and report-generation scripts, and integrate them into Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Firmware, Electrical, Controls, Systems, and Test Engineering teams on interfaces, releases, configuration management, code quality, cybersecurity, maintainability, and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of professional experience developing software applications, engineering tools, or automation scripts.
• Strong Python and object-oriented programming skills.
• Experience with graphical user interfaces using PyQt, PySide, Tkinter, or equivalent frameworks; web applications or embedded web interfaces.
• Experience with Git, software development workflows, CI/CD concepts and tools such as Azure DevOps.
• Experience with communication protocols, APIs, data logging, automated testing, requirements management, and issue-tracking tools such as Jira or similar platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers or firmware development; Docker, Linux, databases, data visualization, or cloud-connected systems.
• Knowledge of automated report generation, engineering data analysis, and cybersecurity principles for industrial or embedded systems.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to collaborate with distributed, cross-functional engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools, including reviewing and validating generated code.
