TL;DR
WordPress Developer (PHP/React): Building and maintaining custom themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, shared libraries, and REST integrations for high-traffic multilingual WordPress sites with an accent on performance, security, and scalable delivery tooling. Focus on refactoring legacy code, optimizing queries and caching, meeting Core Web Vitals targets, and reviewing AI-assisted code.
Location: Almaty; fully remote, office-based, or hybrid work options are available.

What you will do
- Build and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, libraries, block collections, Composer packages, and delivery tooling.
- Develop high-traffic, multilingual WordPress sites and integrations with internal and third-party systems through REST APIs.
- Refactor legacy code, optimize queries and object caching, and meet Core Web Vitals targets.
- Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD improvements, engineering standards, and timely product delivery.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, SEO, and content teams on features and site improvements.
Requirements
- 3.5+ years of professional WordPress development experience with Object-Oriented PHP 8.x, namespaces, PSR-4, and Composer.
- Deep knowledge of WordPress core APIs, including hooks, custom post types and taxonomies, meta and custom fields, ACF Pro, and WP_Query.
- Production experience building Gutenberg blocks with React, JSX, block.json, and @wordpress/scripts.
- Strong modern JavaScript ES6+, webpack or Vite build tooling, and modern CSS with Sass or PostCSS.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, including custom WordPress REST endpoints.
- Knowledge of WordPress security practices, including escaping, sanitization, nonces, and capabilities, plus performance optimization through object caching and query optimization.
- Experience with Git workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to work with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor while reviewing, verifying, and owning generated code.
- English proficiency at Intermediate+ level or above.
Nice to have
- Experience with WordPress block themes, Full Site Editing, theme.json, and the Interactivity API.
- Familiarity with Bedrock or similar Composer-based WordPress architectures.
- Experience with PHPUnit, Playwright, PHPStan, and PHPCS/WPCS for automated testing and static analysis.
- Experience with Timber/Twig, Blade, or similar templating engines.
- Experience with WordPress Multisite and multilingual solutions such as WPML or Polylang.
- Experience with headless WordPress, WPGraphQL, and Next.js.
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and technical SEO.
