Principal Research Scientist - AI & Data Science

What you will do

• Research and develop new statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methodologies, research directions, and prototype solutions.
• Measure improvements using rigorous scientific methods and own R&D projects from conceptualization and design through prototyping, documentation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with operations, technology teams, data scientists, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Produce academic publication-level documentation of methodologies and best practices.
• Engage stakeholders on objectives, scope, execution, data exchange, and outcomes.
• Contribute actively to multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Domain expertise in multiple areas including programming, software engineering, UI/UX, multivariate statistics, machine learning, deep learning, Agentic AI, trend and time-series analysis, and sampling theory.
• Critical and innovative thinking, strong analytical skills, and experience with experimentation and hypothesis testing.
• High proficiency in Python programming without AI assistance.
• Experience working with large-scale databases and technologies such as SQL, Hadoop, and PySpark; statistical packages including Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-Learn; and unit testing.
• Experience with AzureML, DataBricks, and CI/CD best practices using Docker, Unix, and AKS.
• Ability to work in a virtual environment and use GitHub processes, including pull requests and code conflict resolution.
• Strong English communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with a record of written materials and public presentations such as papers, conferences, patents, tutorials, or Substack publications.
