DFES Consultant (Digital Forensics)

Location: Remote in the United States; availability for onsite data collections and short-notice or weekend travel when necessary

What you will do

• Lead, conduct, and assist with data preservation and digital investigations for complex litigation cases.
• Plan and execute legally defensible data preservation and collection with internal colleagues and external clients.
• Investigate computers, mobile devices, storage media, servers, networks, social media, and cloud-based services.
• Perform data restoration and conversion for processing and hosting, and manage the seizure and retention of mobile devices.
• Conduct forensic examinations, prepare expert reports and expert witness documentation, and explain complex technical information to non-technical clients.
• Travel to onsite locations independently or with a team to perform data collections when safe and feasible.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in forensic computing or equivalent relevant experience.
• 1 to 3 years of progressively responsible experience in related roles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, respond to internal and external communications, and make well-reasoned decisions on the spot.
• Working knowledge of evidence management, forensic acquisition tools, and various file formats.
• Ability to collect data from computers, mobile devices, media storage devices, servers, networks, social media, and cloud-based services.
• Familiarity with rules of evidence, ACPO guidelines, ISO 17025, and Chain of Custody.
• Good understanding of computer networking in corporate environments.
• Experience with EnCase, FTK, Axiom, and Cellebrite, plus knowledge of common operating systems and applications.
• Availability for short-notice or weekend travel when necessary.

Nice to have

• eDiscovery experience with relevant forensic collection and analysis software.
• Certifications in EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, Nuix, CFE, or similar.
• SQL or scripting experience.
