Senior Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Zagreb, Grad Zagreb, Croatia; hybrid workplace. Paid accommodation and transportation to Zagreb are available during onboarding for remote employees.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain tools and procedures for threat hunting, software analysis, and detection at scale, using AI where useful.
• Build and own frameworks, automated checks, and guardrails that maintain the accuracy, trustworthiness, and freshness of curated software databases.
• Work with domain experts to understand workflows and develop tooling that improves efficiency.
• Write solution design documents, evaluate options, and define implementable technical approaches.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background with clean, maintainable code and systems-oriented thinking.
• Ownership, initiative, and responsibility for delivering high-quality work.
• Genuine interest in current security trends across open-source and commercial software.
• Proficiency in Python or another object-oriented language, plus hands-on experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex for workflow automation.
• Comfort working with data, including identifying patterns in large datasets and analyzing them with Python or SQL.
• Excellent spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Software architecture experience, including designing systems rather than only features.
• Application security knowledge or a strong understanding of how software is built, packaged, shipped, and attacked.
• Familiarity with SBOMs, CVE, CWE, CPE, and related industry terminology.
• Interest or experience in reverse engineering, including debuggers, disassemblers, and static or dynamic analysis; completing the Reverse Engineering course at FER is an advantage.
