Master Thesis – Core Technologies Video (Video)

Location: Lund, Sweden; remote is listed, with the workplace type specified as on-site. The thesis is open only to students affiliated with a Swedish university or college, directly or through an exchange program.

What you will do

• Choose and investigate one of five thesis ideas in video encoding, video quality measurement, or network transportation.
• Evaluate future motion data for improving real-time video bitrate control and assess different data types and prediction horizons.
• Develop capability-based or temporal-difference objective video quality metrics for surveillance video.
• Investigate how weather data can improve long-term bitrate control for on-camera storage.
• Design a quality measure that combines video quality loss, packet loss, and network latency during unreliable transportation.
• Work with a supervisor or manager to finalize the thesis idea and scope; two students will work on the project, with 30 credits per student.

Requirements

• Current affiliation with a Swedish university or college, directly or through an exchange program.
• Master-level studies in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, or a similar field.
• Relevant academic background may include Efficient C, Automatic Control, Algorithms and Data Structures, Mathematical Statistics, Communication Systems and Networks, or Internet Protocols, depending on the selected idea.
• Submit a CV and university or college grade summary with the application.
