Senior Android Developer

Location: Hybrid work from the Belgrade or Novi Sad office, Serbia.

What you will do

• Create and maintain high-quality Android applications and libraries using Kotlin.
• Design and implement user interfaces according to Android design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Connect mobile applications to back-end services through RESTful APIs and implement data serialization and persistence.
• Improve application performance across memory, CPU, GPU, and battery usage.
• Implement and manage offline databases such as Room to ensure data persistence and availability.
• Participate in software development from specification through testing and launch, while contributing to company-wide knowledge sharing, security, and quality practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-level applications.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming using Java and/or Kotlin, with in-depth understanding of the Android SDK, UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Experience with data serialization and deserialization, RESTful APIs, back-end integrations, and offline databases such as Room.
• Strong understanding of threading, multithreading, and performance optimization, including memory, CPU, GPU, and battery optimization.
• Understanding of Android security best practices, including Android Keystore, secure storage, permissions, exported components, and inter-process communication.
• Knowledge of secure networking principles including HTTPS/TLS, certificate pinning, OAuth2, and JWT, plus networking concepts such as subnetting, VPN, IPSec, SSL/TLS, and DNS.
• Experience with JUnit, MockK, Firebase Test Lab, Gradle, Maven publishing, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and Git.

Nice to have

• Experience with Android NDK development using C/C++.
