Senior Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

What you will do

• Develop and support workflow services used by millions of players.
• Build and operate account and identity capabilities including account settings, Riot ID management, account linking, privacy and communication preferences, parental controls, account recovery, and self-service workflows.
• Support mission-critical Java, Kotlin, and Node services at globally distributed scale.
• Drive multi-month projects from discovery and technical design through launch and production support.
• Partner with product owners, technical leads, Player Support, and engineering teams to build and operate features end-to-end.
• Write unit, functional, and integration tests; participate in on-call rotation; and contribute through design reviews, documentation, and mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a software engineering role, including software, systems, or architecture.
• Expertise in Java and Kotlin, with familiarity with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with microservices architecture, client/service application architecture, and API architecture and development.
• Experience with backend services and distributed systems.
• Strong ownership, communication, and technical judgment.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and tools such as Terraform, Docker, and Jenkins.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with web security concepts, including OWASP security models, cookies, and CORS.
• Familiarity with client-side or full-stack development.
• Expertise operating distributed services at high scale.
• Experience with identity systems, OAuth, or OpenID Connect.
