Senior Developer Support Engineer (AI)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid, with in-person orientation at the Toronto office on the first Tuesday of employment and office attendance 2 days per week.

Salary: CAD 100,000–137,000 annual base salary for candidates located in Canada. Equity where applicable, bonus, health, dental and vision insurance, RRSP with match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave are also offered.

What you will do

• Own complex customer, ISV, GSI, and partner issues end to end, providing advanced technical assistance across Okta SDKs, Okta for AI Agents, Cross App Access, OAuth, OIDC, and SCIM.
• Reproduce sophisticated issues in local environments, triage them, and author accurate bug reports for Engineering.
• Recommend robust workarounds and best practices for developers and partners integrating and scaling on the Okta platform.
• Write knowledge articles that enable self-service resolution across the customer and developer ecosystem.
• Advocate for customers and partners while sharing architectural feedback with Product and Engineering.
• Build internal tooling and proactive solutions using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude.

Requirements

• BA, BS, or MS in Computer Science, MIS, or a related technical discipline, plus 4+ years of experience in developer support, technical support, solutions engineering, or software development with significant customer-facing experience.
• Deep technical troubleshooting skills, strong empathy for developers, and the ability to advocate for customer success in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in at least one statically typed language, such as C#, C++, or Java, and one dynamically typed language, such as Python, JavaScript, or Ruby.
• Hands-on experience supporting or building cloud applications, RESTful APIs, and web frameworks such as Node.js, Django/Flask, ASP.NET, or Rails.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and protocols such as Claude, OpenAI Codex/Copilot, and MCP servers.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication across documentation, chat, and live calls, with the ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting IAM solutions in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with SAML 2.0, OIDC, and OAuth 2.0.
• Deep understanding of enterprise SCIM provisioning, including custom schema design, attribute mapping, lifecycle flows, and troubleshooting common failure patterns.
• Experience building, maintaining, or supporting third-party ISV and technology partner integrations at scale.
• Exposure to modern AI tools and frameworks, including MCP, Claude, and OpenAI Codex.
• Experience supporting multi-tier web application architectures.
