Fishery Officer (Climate Change)

What you will do

• Support implementation of hirify.global's climate change strategy across fisheries and aquaculture activities.
• Analyze technical, social, economic, environmental and institutional information, data and statistics.
• Contribute to adaptation and mitigation tools, guidance, policy analysis, technical reports and scientific knowledge products.
• Support climate change field projects, including concept notes, workshops, reporting and resource mobilization materials.
• Contribute to global climate processes and events, including UNFCCC-related conferences, consultations and technical meetings.
• Coordinate internal climate change working groups, maintain project inventories and publications, and liaise with hirify.global offices and external institutions.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in biology, fishery science, marine ecology, economics, fisheries economics, fisheries management, ocean governance or another related field.
• At least three years of relevant experience in fishery and/or aquaculture research, science, management, trade, statistics and data, ocean governance or a related field.
• Working knowledge of English at proficiency level C and intermediate knowledge at level B of at least one other hirify.global official language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish.
• Experience working in an international context with international organizations, governments, regional bodies or other international institutions.
• Experience collecting and analyzing technical information and data.
• Knowledge and experience in fisheries, fish taxonomy and ecology.
• Experience preparing, editing and revising technical or scientific documents and organizing meetings and workshops.
• Experience with scientific bibliographic databases or information systems and editing or publishing scientific documents.

Nice to have

• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions.
