Graphic Design Consultant

Location: Kampala, Uganda; hybrid workplace

hirify.global is an international humanitarian NGO implementing PlayMatters 3.0 with partners to strengthen education systems and improve learning and well-being outcomes for children in refugee and host communities across Ethiopia, Uganda, and South Sudan.

What you will do

• Update the design, layout, pagination, and formatting of seven PlayMatters 3.0 educator and community leader training manuals based on revised content, tracked changes, and integration guidance.
• Reformat or recreate tables, diagrams, illustrations, text boxes, and other graphical elements while maintaining consistent typography, headings, spacing, headers, footers, and page numbering.
• Update manual covers and internal design elements according to PlayMatters branding guidelines, including the “Second Edition, October 2026” designation.
• Conduct visual and formatting quality assurance, correcting text overflow, broken tables, misaligned graphics, pagination errors, and other inconsistencies.
• Submit drafts for review, incorporate consolidated feedback from the technical and communications teams, and finalize all seven manuals.
• Deliver editable Microsoft Word files, high-resolution print-ready PDFs, accessible digital PDFs, and editable source/design files such as Adobe InDesign packages with linked assets.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of graphic design experience.
• Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro, and/or similar applications required for the assignment.
• Demonstrated experience in graphic design, publication layout, and desktop publishing.
• Experience producing print-ready publications, training manuals, or educational materials.
• Proficiency in incorporating photos, illustrations, and graphics into visually engaging and user-friendly print materials.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to apply branding guidelines consistently.
• Strong writing skills in English.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of organizational information accessed during the consultancy.
