Database Admin (SQL Server)

Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days working from home.

Gross base salary starts at 9,400,000 HUF; the final offer depends on skills, experience, and other relevant considerations.

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize relational database environments.
• Improve performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization, and manage backup and recovery strategies.
• Implement access management, encryption, auditing, data governance, security controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
• Design and implement scalable, high-performance database solutions with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.
• Support enterprise deployments and production systems, including incident response, root cause analysis, and high-availability operations.
• Drive automation of database administration and operational tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and other industry-standard tools; participate in on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA and/or Developer in enterprise environments.
• Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, including complex query development, performance tuning, and indexing strategies.
• Deep understanding of SQL Server architecture and internals.
• Experience with high-availability solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups, clustering, and replication.
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation, monitoring, and administrative task optimization.
• Willingness to prioritize automated solutions over manual controls as a mandatory operational practice.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and shared production incident management.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Ability to adopt and integrate Ansible, Terraform, or Python for operational automation.
• Exposure to major cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, SolarWinds, or equivalent platforms.
