Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Sydney, Australia; fully flexible working arrangements are offered, with a well-stocked office in Redfern. Current and unrestricted Australian working rights are required; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Build a self-service platform between digitisation algorithms and global delivery teams creating digital twins from LiDAR, imagery, and other data sources.
• Enable users to run digital-twin builds independently, understand processing failures, and resolve issues without developer support.
• Help users identify and correct inaccurate algorithm outputs, validate changes, and collaborate on the same model without conflicts.
• Provide visibility into machine time, human correction time, processing errors, output quality, and forecasts for throughput and quality.
• Develop repeatable, measurable frameworks for scaling work across projects and regions, while improving load times and interaction latency.
• Roll out platform capabilities to internal delivery teams across global regions.

Requirements

• Strong track record designing and shipping complex, production-grade systems.
• Care for the end-user experience, particularly for expert users who work in tooling throughout the day.
• Product sense, including understanding users, gathering requirements, and focusing on outcomes.
• Depth of experience and interest in modern programming languages and technologies such as Java, C++, Dart, TypeScript, WebGL, and Python.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technical areas quickly and deliver ambitious work incrementally.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with human-in-the-loop systems, including review and QA workflows, task routing and assignment, or consensus and adjudication at scale.
• Experience owning a DSL, expression language, or low-code surface used by other teams.
• Experience supporting distributed operational teams across time zones.
• Experience building dense, stateful tools for expert users, such as CAD, GIS, IDEs, or serious data visualisation tools.
• Exposure to geospatial systems, LiDAR, utilities, energy, or physics-based platforms.
