Master Thesis – Identification and Compensation of Acoustical Environments Using the Loudspeaker to Microphone Signal Path

What you will do

• Determine methods for discovering or measuring the acoustic environment of an audio device using its built-in microphone and loudspeaker.
• Investigate which stimuli are most effective for acoustic-environment identification, including log-sweeps and continuous noise.
• Determine which characteristics of the environment can be measured.
• Investigate how speaker-specific audio adjustment can improve perceived sound quality and performance.
• Complete a 30 hp Master Thesis; the proposal is intended for two students working together.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a related Master Program, such as Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, Mathematics, or Physical Sciences.
• Have an interest in audio technology, engineering, signal processing, and/or embedded firmware development.
• Be affiliated with a Swedish University/College directly or through an exchange program.
• Submit a CV and University/College grade summary.
