Senior Data Developer (Azure & Microsoft Fabric)

Location: Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand; hybrid work with a minimum of three days per week in the Hamilton office. Permanent, full-time position. Visa sponsorship is available for suitable candidates.

Salary: NZD 120,000–150,000 per annum for the senior level; intermediate developers may earn NZD 90,000–120,000.

What you will do

• Lead client discovery sessions and translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines, SQL solutions, and data models across Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
• Develop Power BI reports that support informed business decisions.
• Write production-quality code and contribute to architecture, estimation, and presales.
• Mentor developers and help shape effective AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• Strong software and/or data development experience, ideally five years or more.
• A software engineering foundation, including experience building applications, APIs, or services with Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Microsoft data platforms, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT, and Power BI skills.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Consulting experience, including workshops and managing client expectations.
• Git, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and test-driven development.
• Mentoring, presales, or practical experience with AI-assisted development tools.
