Senior Security Platform Developer, Security Automation (Python, Splunk SOAR)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work with the option to work from home or the office according to business and Client needs.

Base pay: CAD 100,000–143,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and support complex Splunk SOAR automation solutions and Python playbooks integrating security platforms, APIs, and enterprise systems.
• Develop reusable Ansible Automation Platform workflows and YAML components for account provisioning, certificate management, and system deployment and configuration.
• Lead the technical design, implementation, production transition, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of security automation solutions.
• Act as a senior escalation point for application, integration, API, authentication, workflow, and production incident issues, including advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Translate business and security requirements into technical designs, collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and architecture teams, and identify integration and architectural risks.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, conduct code reviews, establish development standards, and operationalize deliverables through support models, monitoring, documentation, and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Python development experience, including designing, developing, testing, and supporting production-level automation and integrations.
• An Information Technology university degree or related college diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and 7+ years of relevant Information Technology experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Cyber Security, Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, JSON, authentication mechanisms, and enterprise systems, including independently troubleshooting complex integration issues.
• Strong understanding of software development practices, including Git/source control, code reviews, testing, error handling, logging, debugging, and maintainable software design.
• Ability to act as a technical escalation point, independently diagnose complex problems, and provide technical direction during production and major incidents.
• Ability to complete applicable background checks before starting and during employment.

Nice to have

• Professional IT or Cyber Security designation such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, AWS, or CompTIA Security+.
• Experience with SOAR tools such as Splunk SOAR or Cortex XSOAR, Python and YAML development, and Ansible development.
• Experience planning, researching, and developing security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Knowledge of endpoint detection and response, intrusion detection, cryptographic technologies, certificate management, email security, web content filtering, cloud security, and SIEM platforms and log types.
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, enterprise technology deployment through managed projects, networking technologies, firewalls, web application firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, cloud technologies, and disaster recovery.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills, including explaining technical issues to peers and management.
