Senior Advanced Systems Engineer (Space Avionics)

Location: Onsite in Phoenix, AZ; the role supports the spaceflight hardware business at the Gilbert, AZ facility and requires onsite presence during product testing campaigns.

Salary: $120,000–$155,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead custom spacecraft electronics projects as the responsible engineer and technical customer point of contact.
• Coordinate cross-functional and cross-site electrical, mechanical, FPGA, software, testing, manufacturing, and analysis teams.
• Manage project budget, schedule, scope, risk, technical execution, and product development through prototyping, qualification, production, and delivery.
• Manage stakeholder requirements, derive lower-level design and test requirements, allocate requirements to functional disciplines, and coordinate verification.
• Support proposals, technical compliance assessments, schedules, cost estimates, conceptual design, and analyses for spacecraft computing, power transfer, and command and data handling electronics.
• Author engineering analyses, reports, and test procedures; support design verification and production testing; troubleshoot PCBA failures and lead failure review and corrective-action activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; Master of Science preferred.
• 5+ years of experience leading electronic systems PCBA design and/or embedded microprocessor, FPGA, or ASIC design, with a proven project engineering record leading and coordinating technical contributors.
• Experience leading cross-functional project teams and managing cost, schedule, risk, and technical execution across product design, development, prototyping, and manufacturing.
• Experience authoring, managing, deriving, and verifying requirements for complex electronics systems. Experience with IBM Rational DOORS, JAMA Connect, Siemens Polarion, or another requirements-management database is preferred.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
• Self-starting approach, strong project ownership, independent work capability, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve technical challenges.
• Fluent communication with internal and external customers as a technical focal point, including confident public speaking.
• Deep understanding of computer architecture and digital interface technologies.
• Ability to work onsite and serve as the primary point of contact during product testing campaigns.
• This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.

• Experience designing or specifying space-based, radiation-hardened electronic components.
