Lead Data Platform Engineer (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end data platform across ingestion, lake layout, transformation layers, and serving, improving reliability, performance, and scale.
• Design and build large-scale pipelines integrating product systems, member and client data, claims and eligibility feeds, and third-party sources.
• Design and maintain the Iceberg or Delta Lake layer, including table design, partitioning, compaction, schema evolution, and long-term maintenance.
• Define governance standards for data quality, PII/PHI classification and controls, freshness SLAs, and lineage.
• Establish CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, alerting, orchestration, and data contract standards with product teams.
• Partner with analysts and data scientists on advanced analytics, predictive models, and AI use cases; mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and respond to major incidents.

Requirements

• 8+ years in data or software engineering, including 5+ years focused on data platforms or big data.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across teams and production experience designing and scaling data systems.
• Expert-level knowledge of Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake, with strong experience architecting and operating data pipelines and data lakes.
• Experience designing and rolling out data governance frameworks covering quality, PII/PHI management, access control, and freshness monitoring.
• Experience designing orchestration strategy at platform level.
• Advanced SQL and strong Python proficiency.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, benefits, insurance, or another regulated industry.
• Apache Spark experience, including performance tuning at scale.
• Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture experience.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices as data producers.
• Exposure to ML operationalization or AI platforms.
