Junior Cloud Architect (AWS)

What you will do

• Operate, support, and maintain the AWS environment, including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Security Groups, Route 53, CloudWatch, VPN, and related infrastructure services.
• Support provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, patching, backup, restore, and daily infrastructure maintenance.
• Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, change logs, asset inventories, and configuration management records.
• Support AWS architecture design with Cloud Architects and Senior Engineers, focusing on security, high availability, fault tolerance, performance, and cost optimization.
• Modify and improve Terraform code, support infrastructure standardization and version control, and gradually take ownership of IaC maintenance.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, apply security best practices, automate operational work, and collaborate with IT, Security, Application, and Business teams.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, cloud operations, systems administration, DevOps, or related fields.
• Practical experience with Amazon EC2, Amazon VPC, AWS IAM, Amazon S3, Security Groups, Amazon Route 53, and Amazon CloudWatch.
• Foundational networking knowledge and understanding of cloud architecture principles, including availability, scalability, resilience, security, and cost optimization.
• Foundational Infrastructure as Code experience, Git experience, and experience with Pull Request or Merge Request-based development workflows.
• Ability to investigate incidents and analyze logs, follow runbooks and documented procedures, and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, change records, and asset inventories.
• Strong documentation skills, self-motivation, and willingness to learn.
• Business-level proficiency in either Japanese or English, plus basic conversational ability in the other language and commitment to continued language development.
• Ability to support occasional evening or weekend maintenance activities when required.
• Candidates must be from an export-safe country designated by the Japanese Government.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or active preparation for one of these certifications.
• Team-based Terraform experience, including module management, remote state, provider version control, and code review processes.
• Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Experience with AWS networking technologies such as VPN, hybrid connectivity, DNS, Security Groups, Network ACLs, and AWS Transit Gateway.
• Experience with monitoring and logging platforms including Amazon CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
• Experience developing automation scripts with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English.
• Interest in using AI/LLM tools for documentation generation, incident investigation and troubleshooting, and Infrastructure as Code development support.
