Senior Software Engineer (Golang)

Location: Hybrid, Lagos, Nigeria

What you will do

• Develop backend features and platform services in collaboration with Product and other engineering teams.
• Design scalable solutions for complex financial processes and support market-specific features through a common core platform.
• Drive architecture and technology decisions and deliver medium to large-sized projects from design through deployment.
• Build and maintain reliable, scalable, and resilient distributed systems and improve relational database schemas, data integrity, and performance.
• Contribute to coding standards, code reviews, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, infrastructure, and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and work with stakeholders to define technical requirements and solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong experience with Golang, backend development, distributed systems, platform services, or shared backend infrastructure.
• Strong experience with relational database design, including schema design, data modelling, SQL, indexing, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend systems.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system design, and object-oriented design.
• Good problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
• Experience building complex customer-facing software systems at scale and applying professional software engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with microservices, distributed architectures, cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and high-volume systems designed for scalability, availability, and resilience.
• Experience gathering requirements from users, technical teams, and management and translating them into technical designs and specifications.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, banking, lending, or other financial services.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction.
• Comfort working with AI-native development tools.
• Full-stack experience, particularly with React Native, Next.js, or modern web development technologies.
