First Finance Hire (AI-powered Biotech)

hirify.global is building an automated laboratory that enables AI agents to run biology experiments through integrated software, hardware, data pipelines, and AI systems.

What you will do

• Build and own the finance function, including the operational forecast, top-down P&L, burn, runway, and cash model.
• Connect lab capacity, throughput, yield, headcount, and price per protein to financial planning.
• Own gross margin, experiment costing, pricing analysis, and product and customer profitability.
• Run the close across two entities, including group consolidation and intercompany management.
• Manage cash across Swiss and US bank and card accounts, accounts payable, collections, payment timing, treasury, investor reporting, and fundraising support.
• Maintain compliance across tax, VAT, audit, payroll, equipment leasing, asset management, and automate finance workflows.

Requirements

• Several years of finance experience at a startup that scaled, ideally as an early finance hire who established the function.
• Experience building financial models that connect operational realities such as throughput, yield, capacity, and headcount to cash.
• SQL is required and Python is preferred; the role requires writing code and automating finance workflows through APIs.
• Experience understanding the cost structure of a physical business, including reagents, instruments, consumables, capex versus COGS, and yield loss.
• Swiss and European finance experience, including VAT, social charges, and employment law.
• A US entity alongside a Swiss entity is a plus.
• Ambition to lead finance at a significantly larger hirify.global within three years and commitment to the company’s work.
• High trustworthiness when handling salaries, revenue, investor communications, and board materials.
• Willingness to work hands-on across the lab, customer discussions, and tasks outside a narrowly defined job scope.

Nice to have

• Python experience in addition to required SQL skills.
• Experience with a US entity alongside a Swiss entity.
• Lab, hardware, or manufacturing finance experience.
