TL;DR
Senior Systems Engineer (UAV): Developing complex unmanned aerial systems and their software, communication, payload, and ground-control components with an accent on requirements engineering, system architecture, interfaces, and verification. Focus on decomposing and allocating requirements, managing cross-domain technical constraints, assessing system-level risks and changes, and maintaining end-to-end traceability.

Location: Full-time onsite in Kyiv, Ukraine; candidates must be located in Kyiv.

Company

hirify.global develops unmanned solutions across air, land, and sea, combining advanced hardware with AI-driven software for defense, security, and public sector clients.

What you will do

  • Translate product capabilities, operational scenarios, and concepts of operations into technical system contexts, boundaries, operating modes, states, assumptions, and external interactions.
  • Perform technical feasibility assessments, trade studies, risk analysis, and evidence-based engineering decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, architectures, subsystem allocations, technical contracts, interfaces, system budgets, and cross-domain constraints.
  • Define verification and validation bases, measurable acceptance criteria, verification evidence, and end-to-end requirements traceability.
  • Assess engineering-change impacts and manage system-level technical risks, assumptions, uncertainties, and unresolved items.
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineers, Product Managers, Product Owners, HW/SW leads, domain experts, and V&V teams while preparing systems-engineering documentation and improving methods, tools, and practices.

Requirements

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, including substantial work on multidisciplinary products or systems combining several domains such as mechanics, electronics, embedded systems, software, communications, control systems, sensors, or payloads.
  • Experience at system or subsystem level rather than exclusively within a single component or narrow technical discipline.
  • Strong practical understanding of requirements engineering, including formulation, decomposition, allocation, verification criteria, and traceability.
  • Experience with system architecture, functional decomposition, subsystem boundaries, function allocation, technical constraints, system interfaces, and cross-functional integration.
  • Ability to convert incomplete or high-level product and operational needs into structured, testable engineering definitions without prematurely prescribing implementation details.
  • Experience with technical trade-off analysis, feasibility assessment, structured engineering decisions, verification and validation principles, and analysis of cross-system engineering-change impacts.
  • Strong multidisciplinary engineering fundamentals and ability to communicate with HW, SW, embedded, controls, RF, mechanical, and testing specialists.
  • Strong analytical thinking, ownership, and ability to distinguish system-level responsibility from subsystem detailed design and drive ambiguous topics toward explicit technical decisions.
  • Fluent English for technical communication and documentation.

Nice to have

  • Experience in UAV, aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, defense, or other complex embedded cyber-physical systems.
  • Experience with a formal Systems Engineering lifecycle based on the V-model or comparable frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148, or ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010.
  • Experience with Jama, DOORS, Jira/Confluence, or equivalent requirements and traceability tools.
  • Experience with SysML/MBSE, FMEA/FMECA, hazard analysis, system safety, or compliance engineering.
  • Exposure to system integration, laboratory testing, field testing, or flight testing.

Culture & Benefits

  • Support for Ukraine and an established local Ukrainian office since 2022.
  • Customer-centric technical work focused on technological excellence and aerial data.
  • Opportunities for individual and professional growth.
  • Onsite work in the Kyiv office.
