Senior Software Engineer (Java / Observability)

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; relocation package available

What you will do

• Build and improve observability infrastructure for collecting and analysing metrics, logs, and traces.
• Develop Java-based instrumentation with OpenTelemetry, Micrometer, and Spring Boot.
• Design telemetry pipelines across AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, and on-premise environments.
• Improve monitoring and alerting to accelerate issue identification and reduce unnecessary alerts.
• Develop dashboards and reliability metrics, including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, for production operations.
• Integrate New Relic and other monitoring tools through vendor-neutral OpenTelemetry pipelines.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience working with Java and JVM-based technologies in production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.
• Practical experience implementing OpenTelemetry, including instrumentation, distributed tracing, and telemetry pipelines.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and backend architecture.
• Experience with Kubernetes and deploying applications across cloud or on-premise environments.
• Familiarity with New Relic, including monitoring, dashboards, and alerting.
• Understanding of metrics, logs, traces, SLIs, SLOs, and production monitoring.
• Experience building reusable engineering tools, libraries, or infrastructure used by multiple teams.
