Backend Engineer (Trust & Safety)

What you will do

• Integrate ML scores and risk signals into account creation, credit usage, payment, and generation flows.
• Build configurable enforcement services for rules, rate limits, account restrictions, and credit or payment controls.
• Develop APIs and workflows for case review, decision-history inspection, and safely applying or reversing restrictions.
• Improve production reliability through retries, idempotency, concurrency handling, safe rollouts, monitoring, and audit trails.
• Collaborate with ML, analytics, operations, and other engineering teams to scope, ship, and verify backend protections.

Requirements

• Experience taking an unclear backend problem to a working production system and explaining personal decisions, contributions, and results.
• Strong backend engineering skills across APIs, data models, queues, transactions, idempotency, concurrency, external-service integrations, and debugging.
• Ability to turn risk requirements and operator feedback into clear backend behavior and learn unfamiliar systems quickly.
• Ability to work independently, remove blockers, adapt to evidence, and take ownership of difficult problems.
• Ability to work on-site in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Nice to have

• Experience in fraud prevention, payment risk, or platform abuse.
• Experience with risk-scoring services, rules engines, rate limiters, case management, appeals, or risk-operations tooling.
• Familiarity with Stripe.
• Experience with real-time scoring or graph-based account-linkage systems.
• Python or Go experience.
