Welding Engineer, Manager (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and develop a team of welding engineers.
• Oversee weld process development, qualification, and transition into production.
• Own welding equipment and process selection from requirements definition through vendor evaluation, installation, and acceptance.
• Partner with production, tooling, automation, quality, and program teams to align welding priorities with manufacturing goals.
• Define welding standards and documentation practices and serve as the welding point of contact for internal teams and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 6+ years of welding engineering or weld process development experience, including at least 1 year leading engineers or serving as a senior technical lead.
• Experience developing and qualifying welds for Navy or aerospace hardware and supporting production manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of NAVSEA, AWS D17.1, ASME Section IX, or MIL-STD welding requirements.
• Experience selecting and implementing robotic or automated welding systems and working with high-strength steel, stainless steel, nickel, titanium, or aluminum alloys.
• Must meet U.S. Government export-control requirements under ITAR, including U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with laser beam, friction stir, or orbital welding.
• Experience building a welding team or capability from an early stage.
• Background in high-mix, low-volume or advanced manufacturing environments.
