Senior Web Engineer (Web3)

Location: Tokyo office, Japan; hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office per week and 5 days per week during the initial 2 months

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship features across web products from scoping through production.
• Serve as the main engineering contact for Product and Design workstreams.
• Build reusable components and headless content tooling for non-engineering teams.
• Improve site performance, accessibility, technical SEO, internationalisation, and user experience across multiple languages.
• Own hosting and delivery infrastructure, including environments, CDN, caching, security rules, DNS, domains, releases, and monitoring.
• Review code, investigate production issues, and improve testing, documentation, and AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional web development experience, including senior-level work on high-traffic production sites.
• Expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, server-side JavaScript, REST, and GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with headless CMS content models and editor workflows used by non-engineers.
• Strong knowledge of web performance, accessibility, Core Web Vitals, rendering strategies, structured data, and technical SEO.
• Hands-on experience with Vercel, AWS, or Cloudflare, including deployments, CDN and caching, firewall rules, DNS, logs, and monitoring.
• Must work from the Tokyo office 3 days per week, with 5 days per week required during the initial 2 months. Clear written and verbal English, strong presentation skills, a self-driven work style, and a BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with monorepos, design systems, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and internationalisation at scale.
• Automated and end-to-end testing, including Playwright.
• Monitoring and analytics tools such as Sentry or New Relic.
• Crypto or fintech product experience, including Web3 wallet integrations.
• Experience working with content in regulated industries.
