Machine Learning Engineer (MLOps)

Location: Hybrid, with two days per week in the office in Vila Nova de Gaia / Porto, Portugal

Salary: €28,000–€52,000 per year

What you will do

• Deploy and operate machine learning models in production environments.
• Build reproducible training workflows and manage deployment, monitoring, retraining, and rollback procedures.
• Develop batch and real-time model serving solutions, APIs, and integrations with business and operational systems.
• Implement model registration, lifecycle management, evaluation, performance optimization, and production monitoring.
• Detect data and prediction drift, configure alerting and SLOs, and support incident response and production readiness.
• Refactor data science code into maintainable, tested production services and reusable libraries.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering.
• Strong Python skills, including testing, packaging, API development, and code review.
• Experience with MLflow or similar platforms, CI/CD pipelines, model registration, and lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of containers, distributed processing with Spark, Microsoft Azure, and Infrastructure as Code concepts.
• Understanding of the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, production monitoring, model evaluation metrics, and performance optimization.
• Fluent English is mandatory. A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time decisioning in payments, fintech, fraud detection, or credit-related environments.
• Experience operating LLM-based applications in production, including LLMOps, AgentOps, model evaluation, tracing, prompt versioning, and AI guardrails.
• Experience with feature stores, continuous-training pipelines, Kafka, low-latency inference, Azure ML, Terraform, or container-based serving platforms.
• Knowledge of model risk management and EU AI Act requirements.
• A master's degree or certifications in Azure, Databricks, or machine learning engineering.
